John Holland Vaiacar Interlocking

KAPP has been contracted by John Holland to retrofit a safety and interlocking system to a Vaiacar dual purpose rail/road excavator. The system utilises a Phoenix Contact Safetybridge system that operates via a wireless link between the rail car and cab sections of the vehicle. As the cab is able to rotate 360 degrees it was not possible to provide any means of wired communications for interlocking of the movement of the machine. KAPP recommended a TUV approved wireless safety system from Phoenix Contact and is in the process of commissioning the system on site.
