BASF Owns and Operates a Plant in Kwinana WA that produces Performance Chemicals. This plant uses a legacy Think & Do process control system that is built on Koyo I/O. As the aging plant and original designers and programmers of the plant provide limited support to the site, KAPP Engineering has been commissioned to provide documentation for the process control system. The entire process control system was built without the use of basic design documentation such as I/O Lists and even a Control Philosophy.
The project involves understanding the Acid, Powder and Liquid parts of the process and documenting the process operation utilising Control Philosophies and I/O Lists. This documentation, when complete will provide a sound foundation for what exactly resides in the process control system permitting quicker and more efficient upgrades and enhancements as well as the ability to move to a newer control system at a later date.
