Directsoft 5 – IBox
Instructions
The most notable new feature in DirectSOFT5 is the
addition of IBox instructions. These fill-in-the-blank
instructions are designed to make your programming
experience quicker and easier than ever. With the
IBoxes, many everyday ladder code tasks are now
quick and easy. More than 65 IBox instructions are
available in the following six categories.
o Memory
o Discrete Helper
o Analog Helpers
o Math
o Communications
o Counter I/O
Here are a few examples
of what you can do with the new IBox instructions:
• MATHBCD - Math - BCD Format
lets you enter complex mathematical expressions
like you would in
Visual Basic, Excel, or C++
• OFFDTMR - Off Delay Timer
will delay the "turning off" of the output
parameter by the specified off delay time
• PONPOFF - Push ON/Push
OFF Circuit toggles an output state whenever the
input power flow transitions
from off to on (ie Flip-Flop)
• ANLGCMB - Analog Input/Output
Combo Module Pointer Setup generates the logic to
configure the pointer
method for one analog input/output combo
module during the first PLC scan following a Program
to Run transition.
• ECEMAIL - ECOM100 Send
E-mail. On a leading edge transition, ECEMAIL will
send a request to your SMTP Server
to send the e-mail message to the e-mail
addresses in the To: field (* requires an Hx-ECOM100

• KEPDirect I/O Server
The new KEPDirect EBC I/O server is a 32-bit application
that provides a way to connect your favourite Windows
client software to AutomationDirect Ethernet I/O,
through our EBCs (Ethernet Base Controllers).
Any industrial HMI/SCADA, data historian, MES or
ERP software package that includes an OPC client
driver (most do!) can connect directly to DL205,
DL405 or Terminator Ethernet I/O. The KEPDirect
EBC I/O server provides an interface to your Ethernet
EBC I/O using industry-standard OPC (OLE for process
control), so you are free to choose almost any software
package. Best-in-class Ethernet I/O, along with

• Datalynx –
PLC Modem Data Logging Software
DataLynx data collection software is an inexpensive
data logging and storage package for programmable
logic controllers (PLCs) using a PC. Any PLC or
other device that supports MODBUS, along with a
modem connection, works well with DataLynx. This
software package is an ideal solution for collecting
data from remote locations or relaying data from
multiple locations back to a single location to
be stored.
DataLynx polls remote MODBUS-enabled devices over
standard phone lines using off-the-shelf modems.
The DataLynx Server runs as a service and collects
and stores your data into comma or tab-delimited
file formats. DataLynx can also be configured to
automatically archive data files into a .zip file
every month or year and delete the files as well.

AutomationDirect has teamed up with INTEWORX.NET
to offer its customers DataWorx data collection
software for AutomationDirect PLCs and WinPLCs.
Before DataWorx, it was necessary to purchase an
OPC/ DDE server, write code or buy a Human Machine
Interface (HMI) package to program, in order to
collect data from our PLCs/ WinPLCs. Now, DataWorx
PLC makes it simple and cost effective to easily
collect valuable data to enable you to make better
business decisions.
The DataWorx Software package easily connects your
Ethernet-enabled DirectLOGIC programmable logic
controllers (PLCs), or WinPLCs, to standalone PCs
or network servers for simple data logging. This
means that any PC or server on the network can collect
valuable PLC/ WinPLC data without the need of special
PC programming or any 3rd party HMI, SCADA, or DAQ

• U.C.ME –
Alarm notification and analysis software
U.C.ME is OPC client alarm notification and analysis
software. It uses SMS, WAP, RSS, Phone, Fax, Email
and Multimedia to notify users on alarm situations.
U.C.ME is an OPC client and DDE client software.
It can connect to any OPC or DDE server (such as
the KEPDirect I/O Server) or any SCADA that supports
OPC/DDE.
U.C.ME supports bidirectional communication via
SMS and Phone. Users may acknowledge alarms, query
or change tag values via SMS or phone.
